Atletico Madrid looked quite impressive in the 2-4 thumping of Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final in Tallinn, but they are nowhere near such form at the start of the new La Liga season.
The Mattressers were lucky to have saved a point away at Valencia on the opening day and they only managed to edge past the likes of Rayo Vallecano in the second round clash at Wanda Metropolitano.
Diego Simeone’s troops looked uninspired as only a “lucky” Antoine Griezmann strike from a deflection inside Rayo’s penalty area made the difference between the Mattressers and the league newcomers last Saturday.
They’ll certainly need to show much more if they want to grab the spoils against the insp0iring Celta Vigo side in one of the most exciting clashes of the Matchday No 3 at Abanca-Balaidos.
