Espanyol are much happier of two sides after opening two rounds of the new La Liga season and they certainly head into Sunday’ affair at Estadio de Mendizorroza as form favourites.
The Budgerigars picked up four out of possible six points from two opening games in spite of having a tricky schedule with outings against Celta Vigo and Valencia. Rubi’s men were especially impressive in the 2-0 victory over the Bats last weekend. Can they keep such form going and get more points on the board after the trip to Vitoria-Gazteiz?
Espanyol’s rock-solid defense should have the opportunity to maintain the fine record (just one goal conceded so far) knowing they’ll be up against an outfit which is yet to find the back of the net in the new season.
Whilst nobody expected Babazorros to score against Bareclona at Camp Nou, the goalless draw to Real Betis on the home patch was certainly a failure, especially if we know that Los Beticos conceded three goals at home to Levante on the opening day.
